Frank Lampard is one of the candidates that Rangers FC are looking at but the Chelsea legend could be on his way to becoming the next Norwich City manager.

The Gers have just lost Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa so their management has drawn up a list of candidates who could replace the ex-Liverpool midfielder.

Lampard, as well as Dean Smith, are on this list but both of them have been contacted by Norwich City as the Canaries are looking for a replacement for Daniel Farke(Lampard though is ahead in this race).

Frank Lampard the next Norwich City manager or is it Dean Smith?

As per various reports, Frank Lampard has been interviewed by the Canaries on Thursday and even Dean Smith has been contacted by the Premier League side.

Lampard is keen to return to management and if the talks were positive then Rangers are most likely to miss out on the former Chelsea man.

Both Guardian and Football Insider are claiming that Frank Lampard could be the next Norwich City manager meaning the Gers could be left to pick up the scraps.

While Dean Smith has also been contacted by the Canaries but we have a feeling that the ex-Villa boss is only a backup to Frank Lampard and they will only consider him seriously if the ex-Chelsea man rejects their offer.

Will Rangers contact Frank Lampard or Dean Smith?

Lampard or Dean Smith can do very well as the heir to Steven Gerrard but if Rangers are really serious about appointing either one of them then they have to wait for Norwich City to wrap up their scouting.

There’s no way either of the two managers will entertain Rangers if they are talking to Norwich City but as per some reports, the Scottish side might not be waiting for these two men.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the bookmarkers favourite to become the next Rangers boss and if the ex-Ger agrees to return to management then we don’t think the club will even make a move for Frank Lampard or Dean Smith.

But having said that, Rangers will not rush things too much and they will not be too unwilling for Norwich City to name their next manager before their cut down on their options.
