The Chelsea management are planning to sack manager Frank Lampard on Monday according to various reports in England.

The Daily Mail are claiming: “Frank Lampard will be sacked by Chelsea on Monday following a dismal slump in form that sees them sit ninth in the Premier League table.

“As the Daily Telegraph first reported, the players were told not to come to the training ground until Monday afternoon as Lampard becomes the 10th manager sacked during the Roman Abramovich era.

“Confirmation of his sacking is expected on Monday as the club take decisive action following a torrid run of five losses in eight league games.”

At the start of the 2020-21 season, the Blues were tipped as one of the Premier League title contenders, especially after the kind of business they did during the summer.

But nothing has gone according to plan for Frank Lampard and right now they are ninth on the league table with just 29 points from their first 19 matches.

The reports of Frank Lampard being sacked had been doing the rounds for some time now and it looks like Roman Abramovich has finally made a concrete decision.

Who will replace Frank Lampard at Chelsea?

According to the various reports, the Blues hierarchy are going break the news to the players on Monday and shortly after the official confirmation is expected to come.

With Frank Lampard set to move out of the way, it looks like 47-year-old Thomas Tuchel is going to take charge of Chelsea as the new boss.

Tuchel is currently without a club after being sacked by PSG recently and he was one of the multiple candidates being tipped to replace Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

talkSPORT are claiming: “It is understood Tuchel is set to be appointed Lampard’s successor.

“Former Borussia Dortmund manager Tuchel is currently out of work having been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain just before Christmas.”

Tuchel is going to take charge with immediate effect but we don’t think he will be ready to sit in the dugout when Chelsea face Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday.

UPDATE:

Chelsea have officially sacked manager Frank Lampard.

The official statement read: “Chelsea Football Club have today parted company with Head Coach Frank Lampard.

“This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly.

“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.

“The Club will be making no further comment until such time as a new Head Coach is appointed.”
