Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with goalkeeper Fraser Forster and as per Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, he is on the verge of signing for the Lilywhites.

The 34-year-old had been playing for Southampton this season but the Saints have refused to offer him a new deal meaning he will join Antonio Conte’s side as a free agent.

McGrath wrote on Twitter: “Fraser Forster set for THFC medical this week with deal for England goalkeeper as a free agent to be closed in the coming days, after Southampton departure.”

Will Fraser Forster be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Spurs have secured a Champions League spot which is why they are looking for a backup keeper and for the longest time, the North London side had been linked with Sam Johnstone.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Johnstone was never a serious target for the club meaning they always had their eyes on Fraser Forster.

The 34-year-old is a homegrown player, has Premier League experience and last season he played 19 league matches for the Saints so he more or less ticks all the right boxes.

He will be a perfect backup to have for those tricky cup games and since he played continuously for Spurs during the second half of the season, Fraser Forster is very much active and in form.

According to TransferMarkt, the keeper’s contract with Southampton will expire at the end of next month so even though a medical will take place this week a formal contract with Tottenham Hotspur will only be signed at the end of June.
