Arsenal have sacked Unai Emery after a string of dismal performances and former Gunner Freddie Ljungberg is going to take charge for the time being.

The club’s official statement, read: “We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team.

“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.

“We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward,” the statement added.

“The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.”

As per rumours, Arsenal are in talks with Nuno Espirito Santo to become their next manager but up until then, Freddie Ljungberg will be in charge of picking up points.

And according to former teammate Ray Parlour, the first thing that Ljungberg needs to sort out is Arsenal’s shaky defence.

“Defensively, you have to be much better. How many times have Arsenal been in front and suddenly, they’ll always give the other team a chance to get back into the game. Sometimes you have to see a game out,” he told talkSPORT[as quoted].

“Get a unit set and I think Freddie would do that because he played in sides that did that.

“When we played against sides and we were in front but right up against it, he knows how to organise that midfield area because it’s not all about the defence, it’s about the shield in front of them.

“They come from all angles in midfield, there’s no structure. You might well put four or five bodies forward but when it breaks down, suddenly the opposition are at the back four.”

Both David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi picked up injuries during Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and it looks like both these players will miss the game at Carrow Road.

If the two defenders cannot make themselves fit in time then it will be the pairing of Callum Chambers and Sokratis playing in cental defence vs Norwich.
