Gabriel Jesus Arsenal

Things are about to get really complicated for Arsenal because London rivals Chelsea are suddenly interested in signing Gabriel Jesus, as per a report in AS.

The Gunners have been chasing Jesus for the longest time and in the previous few days, their expectations have been going up and down. At one point, it looked like Arsenal would be able to secure this transfer but now as per the Spanish outlet, Chelsea are planning to make a move for the Brazilian international.

The report claims: “As Diario AS has been able to learn, the blue team is very interested in Gabriel Jesús and will try to close his signing this summer, once the institutional situation is settled after the end of the British government sanction and the arrival of Todd Boehly for club presidency.

“It is precisely these steps that could delay Chelsea’s offer for the player, although he has already been informed that there will be a formal proposal.”

Will Chelsea seriously rival Arsenal in this transfer race?

The Blues have signed several forwards in the previous two years but almost all of them have turned out to be failures. The likes of Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech and Werner have all failed to impress and some of them might be shown the door this summer.

As per the rumours, Tuchel is ready to part ways with Ziyech, Werner and Pulisic so going after Gabriel Jesus remains a very realistic possibility. Even if one of them leaves, Tuchel wouldn’t mind signing the Man City man.

The new owners are willing to spend money this summer so Chelsea can very easily outbid Arsenal in this battle. Also, the Blues will be able to offer Gabriel Jesus a chance to remain in the Champions League, something which Arsenal won’t be able to match.

The Blues are definitely in search of attacking reinforcements for the next season so it won’t be a surprise if they make a move for Gabriel Jesus in the coming weeks.

Can Arsenal be able to lure in Gabriel Jesus despite Chelsea’s interest?

If Chelsea can guarantee Gabriel Jesus regular playing time then it will be an uphill task for Arsenal to sign the 25-year-old.

Apart from regular playing time, Arsenal cannot offer much to Jesus right now so if Chelsea can sort this one issue out then they will automatically be the favourites.

To make matters worse, Arsenal have a very restricted transfer budget this transfer window so they won’t be able to outbid their London rivals either.

The forward has expressed his desire to leave in the summer but he does not have any favourites as such so he wouldn’t mind choosing Chelsea over Arsenal.
