Gabriel Jesus Arsenal
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus playing for Brazil

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus is not going to renew his contract at the club as he wants to secure a summer exit, as per the latest reports.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Jesus has given a cryptic statement regarding his future and according to Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old is not keen to remain at the Etihad Stadium anymore. He has scored eight and assisted eight goals in 28 Premier League games this season but somehow he still cannot move up the pecking order under Guardiola.

Gabriel Jesus tells ESPN, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano: “My future is still uncertain. I have already expressed my desire to Man City people and to my agent. I have in my head very clear what I want”.

Which clubs are interested to sign the Brazilian?

In a recent interview, his agent had claimed that as many as six clubs are willing to bring him on board but the buzz in the British media is that Arsenal and Tottenham are the two genuine contenders.

Arsenal have been chasing Gabriel Jesus for some time but as per the Telegraph, Spurs have also been keeping tabs on him and now that they have secured Champions League football, Levy will be urged to make a move for him.

Manchester City have put a £55 million price tag on Jesus so we don’t think any other Premier League club will be too interested to pay such a steep price for him. Liverpool have no need for him, Manchester United will not want a Man City player and the rest of the clubs simply cannot afford him.

Also, Gabriel Jesus wants to keep playing in the Champions League and this will also be a key aspect in determining his future.

Which club is Gabriel Jesus likely to choose?

Just a few weeks ago, Arsenal were the frontrunners in this transfer race but their failure to finish in the top-four might have pushed them onto the back foot.

Without Champions League football, Mikel Arteta will see a cut in his transfer budget and if this gossip is true then Arsenal will find it really hard to sign Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta needs to reinforce other areas of the squad as well so it will be very hard for the Gunners to pay £55 million for just one player.

Spurs, on the other hand, have gotten back into the UCL so Antonio Conte will be provided with a significant transfer budget. Meeting Man City’s transfer demands should not be a problem for Tottenham right now and if Gabriel Jesus can be convinced that he will play regularly next season then there’s every chance the Liywhites will secure the signing of the 25-year-old in the coming months.
