Arsenal seem to have beaten Manchester United in the race to sign defender Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille, as per the latest updates.

A couple of days ago, journalist Duncan Castles had claimed that the Gunners were the frontrunners in signing the 22-year-old centre-back and that he was due to have his medical for the London outfit pretty soon.

He wrote on Twitter: “Understand Lille have agreed to sell Gabriel Magalhães to Arsenal for a fee of €30million.

“Brazilian centre back due to take medical tomorrow before completing transfer to the Premier League club.

“Gabriel was also targeted by Everton, Manchester United and Napoli.”

But then, fresh reports had suggested that Premier League rivals Manchester United are making one final push to sign Gabriel Magalhaes and there’s a big chance that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be able to beat Arsenal to the finish line.

Now though, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has come out to claim that Arsenal have officially sealed the signing of the defender and he will be arriving in England on Monday.

“Total agreement just completed: he will fly on Monday to London to sign his contract until June 2025, €30M to Lille (add ons included), official statement on next week. The deal is finally done.”

This is great news for the Arsenal fans since for a moment it seemed like Manchester United will be able to perform a coup.

But now with Gabriel Magalhaes seemingly heading to the Emirates, the Man United manager will have to look to another target pretty quick.
