Is this Spurs player set to play for a rival Premier League club next season?

Gareth Bale Real Madrid

Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspur on a loan spell for the 2020-21 season but he did not have the happiest time at his old club – mostly playing as a substitute under Jose Mourinho. And now with the season coming to an end, the Welshman’s future is once again up in the air.

Bale is set to return to Real Madrid this season but there are heavy doubts if he will remain with the Los Blancos next season. The winger has already claimed that he has made up his mind about his future but will reveal it only at the proper moment.

“I know what I am doing,” Bale had said .”But it will just cause chaos if I say anything.”

Some rumours have suggested that Tottenham could try and sign him on a permanent deal this summer while others claim that Gareth Bale wants to return to Madrid and give his career a fresh start.

Ex-United man Mark Hughes has predicted that while Bale could remain in England beyond the summer but he is not likely to play for Spurs anymore.

“I hope so I think he’s an outstanding player,” Hughes said, when asked about Bale remaining in the Premier League. “It all depends on his situation at Real Madrid. I would love to see him playing week in week out in the Premier League, I think we need players such as Bale. It doesn’t look as if it’s worked out as well as everybody expected it to [at Tottenham].

“He didn’t get the game time under Jose Mourinho that he would have liked for whatever reason.

“Gareth is one of those players who needs to be happy and comfortable in his surroundings and maybe sometimes this year at Tottenham surprisingly I don’t think he has been. It’s only in recent weeks that he’s been playing with a smile on his face.”

Gareth Bale showed his true talent in the final few league games of the season under interim boss Ryan Mason and purely based on these performances, many clubs will be eager to get their hands on him.

Even with Zidane leaving, it’s not sure if Real Madrid want him back or not. But in England, various clubs will be more than happy to have him on board – including Spurs.

There is a chance Spurs could lose both Harry Kane and Son this summer so making a permanent move for Gareth Bale will make total sense, despite the fact that the winger has already entered the final phase of his playing career.
