Arsenal and Roma cannot come to an agreement over the transfer of midfielder Granit Xhaka and as per Roma Press, the Premier League side have rejected another bid from the Italians.

AS Roma had made a fresh offer in the region of £20 million for the Swiss international but it seems like the Gunners want a higher fee for the sale of the 28-year-old.

The report claims: “Roma and Arsenal remain locked in negotiations for Granit Xhaka despite hope that a deal would be in place by this weekend.

“The two clubs have been in discussions for the Swiss international for almost one month, however, they still haven’t reached a full agreement regarding a transfer fee.

“Roma claim that the Gunners rejected their latest offer for the midfielder, marking the second time they’ve increased their bid yet saw it rejected.

“At the moment, the Giallorossi do not intend to raise their offer and will see how the situation evolves over the coming days.”

Should Arsenal hold onto Granit Xhaka?

Granit Xhaka has been a mainstay for Arsenal during the 2020/21 season but it’s no secret that manager Mikel Arteta is looking for an upgrade.

Arsenal have been linked with a series of top class midfielders this summer and it’s only a matter of time before they bring in someone to replace the 28-year-old central midfielder.

Xhaka has two more years left on his current deal which is why Arsenal are trying to squeeze out as much money as possible from his sale so they can use the money to fund their own reinforcements.

Jose Mourinho is eager to bring Granit Xhaka to Roma and maybe this is why Arsenal are holding out for a higher transfer fee.

Arsenal will need to bring in a world-class partner for Thomas Partey if they wish to get back into the Champions League as soon as possible because there’s no way they will be able to do it with Granit Xhaka in the starting line-up.
