Guardiola’s men turn up the heat: Man City players ratings vs Crystal Palace

0

Manchester City continued demolishing teams as they won 5-0 against Crystal Palace who were condemned to a sixth straight defeat and all without a single goal.

A brace from Raheem Sterling along with strikes from Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, and Fabian Delph blew the Eagles away at the Etihad Stadium.

City came clear of United on top of the table albeit, by virtue of superior goal difference.

Here are the Man City players ratings vs Crystal Palace:

Ederson – 6.5/10

Had no real saves to make but he was lucky to see Loftus-Cheek’s striker come off the post. As usual, strong with his distribution.

Kyle Walker – 7/10

Kept the game stretched and the Palace left back on the backfoot throughout the game. Another strong showing for the Englishman.

John Stones – 6.5/10

Looked second best against Benteke initially but recovered well as the game progressed. Excellent distribution as usual.

Nicolas Otamendi – 7/10

Covered well for his partner and did not have much work to do. Good crossfield passes to Walker and started most attacks in that manner.

Benjamin Mendy – N/A

Rash challenge caused him an injury and he had to be taken off at the half-hour mark. Pep will hope it is not serious.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10

Was the quieter of City’s attackers today as he kept possession and kept the ball rolling. Set up Aguero to assist for City’s third.

Fernandinho – 7/10

A game where his services as a defensive midfielder were almost not needed. Solid showing nonetheless.

David Silva – 8/10

Added another couple of assists to his name as he continued his fine start to the season. Not as silky as usual, still made a major impact.

Leroy Sane – 9/10

Stunning finish to bag City’s opener. Two inch-perfect crosses for Sterling and Aguero’s goals as well. The youngster is truly in the form of his life.

Raheem Sterling – 8.5/10

His goals were both close-range tap-ins, but that misses the point that he saw the opportunity both times – and his pace constantly had Palace rocking onto the back foot.

Sergio Aguero – 8/10

Not as prolific as he was expected to be but still managed to get on the scoresheet for City late on. Takes himself to within touching distance of City’s all-time highest goal-scorer record.

Substitutes:

Danilo – 6/10

Had a decent showing on the left after he came on for the injured Mendy.

Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10

Kept looking to attack as he continues to try and break into the City side.

Fabian Delph – 7/10

Scored the goal of the game with a beautiful curler after coming on late in the game.
