Hakim Ziyech was brought by Chelsea from Ajax in a big-money move but the playmaker is yet to have the same sort of impact which he had in the Netherlands.
And after an underwhelming season, there are rumours that Thomas Tuchel might push him out of the club with AC Milan interested in signing him for the 2021-22 season.
Sempre Milan cites the Gazzetta: “Carlo Laudisa – a journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport – spoke on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel (via MilanLive) about Ziyech, confirming that he is Paolo Maldini’s ideal target for the attacking department as he can play both as a right winger and as a playmaker.”
Hakim Ziyech to join AC Milan on loan?
Chelsea paid £36 million for Hakim Ziyech but last season, the right-winger managed to play in only 23 Premier League games, scoring two and assisting three goals.
He has returned to training with Chelsea and is ready to prove his worth to Thomas Tuchel after a muted 20-21 campaign.
“I’m feeling great, sharp. I think for everybody, the days off that we’ve had have been good. Right now we can show our best, we are all hungry and sharp,” Ziyech told Chelsea TV during pre-season training, as per Goal.
“The biggest thing is getting back the rhythm again, getting back to being fit again, to get the minutes in the leg. That’s the most important thing, to get ready for the real work.
“It’s always nice for the confidence but it’s not the biggest thing in the first place.”
Ideally, Hakim Ziyech should not be sent out after just one season but Chelsea have several players who can play down the right-hand side. So, if AC Milan are really pushing for this loan deal, the manager could opt to send him out.
Chelsea have also been linked with a few right wingers this summer and if they do manage to bring in one of them then there’s no way Tuchel will keep Hakim Ziyech in the side.
