Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson is currently out on loan to Derby County until the end of the season.

And the 21-year-old has really caught the attention of everyone in England with his fine performances during the current season.

So far, Harry Wilson has played in 25 Championship games for Derby County and the winger has managed to net 10 goals.

With such a string of impressive performances, there are reports that Derby might try and sign him permanently at the end of the season.

But last summer things could have gone a whole lot differently for the youngster.

Premiership clubs Rangers and Celtic were both interested in signing him up and there were reports that both the clubs have submitted proposals to sign up Harry Wilson on loan for the 2018-19 season.

The ultimate decision to move out of Liverpool rest of Wilson though and he chose to snub the Glasgow clubs and join Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

And now the 21-year-old has revealed as to why he chose Derby over the other interested clubs.

Wilson told The Daily Mail about his phone call with Lampard: “I was a bit nervous, like! I thought to myself, ‘I need to speak to him properly’.

“I answered and the first thing he says to me is ‘Are you driving?’ I told him I’d be home in five minutes and asked would he mind if I gave him a callback.

“He was absolutely fine. When I got in, I rang him straight away and he told me he’d watched me at Hull last season and liked what he saw.

“He said he had spoken to a few people about me and he’d love me to come to Derby. That made my mind up.”

Liverpool would surely want Harry Wilson to return back to Anfield during the summer but with Mo Salah ruling the right wing we are sure as to just how much game time the youngster would get if he were to stay with the Reds next season.
