Arsenal are currently ninth on the Premier League table and after the loss to Liverpool, many fans think, the manager should be shown the door without much delay.

The Gunners have made very little progress under Mikel Arteta this season and they are not much better off than they were under Unai Emery. But according to Arsenal legend Michael Thomas, the club shouldn’t be looking to sack their current boss.

Thomas that any new man coming in will face the same problems so the management should take things in their stride and look to back Arteta.

“I don’t think Arsenal need to be thinking about a new manager just yet,” Thomas told CaughtOffside exclusively. “A new manager will experience the same issues until they have their own team of players in place to produce what they want.

“I think Arteta needs to finish the season on a high with the Europa League and try and get more of his own players integrated into the team.

“If then he cannot get his group of players to perform then Arsenal as a club will have to decide where they go from there.

“I’d say a minimum of five signings are needed: a right-back, (Achraf Hakimi), left-back (Ryan Bertrand), central midfield (Yves Bissouma and Martin Odegaard), and a left winger.”

Recent reports have suggested that the Arsenal management have no plans to sack Mikel Arteta anytime soon and they are ready to fully back the manager during the summer transfer window.

So, in theory, the manager should be getting in some new players at the end of the season. But, as far as we feel, he will have to at least deliver some form of European football in order to save his job.

Things will become really gloomy if the North London side cannot qualify for the Champions League nor the Europa League next season. And maybe then the club’s think tank might be forced to look for alternatives.

Right now, the only thing Mikel Arteta can do is focus on Arsenal’s next Europa League game vs Slavia Prague since they ain’t getting back into the Premier League top-four this season.
