Here’s how Arteta is planning to dismantle the Leeds United defence: Will it work?

Arsenal welcome Leeds United at the Emirates this weekend and the Gunners are desperate to pick up win and get back into the top half of the Premier League table.

Arsenal go into this game 11th on the league table and they have now winless in their previous three league matches. And to make matters worse, Leeds United have picked three wins out of their last five league games and are one point ahead of their Sunday’s rivals, having played a match less.

Leeds United are one of the most attack-minded sides in the Premier League this season and many teams have struggled to break them down. But while talking about their opponents, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted that set-pieces are one particular vulnerability which his side will look to exploit this weekend.

He told in his pre-match press conference: “When you look at a lot of the game they’ve lost and how they’ve lost them, it’s pretty incredible as well.

“Maybe they haven’t deserved those defeats. They’ve been really punished on set-pieces as well, which is one key area there. But overall what they’ve produced in open-play compared to the opponent, it’s difficult to see games where they have produced less than the opponent.

“They are a really brave, dynamic and attacking side.

“I think they are a really exciting side, a great coach, great coaching staff who are all involved and a bunch of players who believe 100 per cent in what they do and they just go in every game with the same energy and enthusiasm to get the points. I think they deserve more points than they have in the table at the moment.”

Leeds United have scored 38 goals this season in the league but, on the other hand, they have conceded the same number of goals as well. Their attacking brand of football comes at a definite cost which is something that Arsenal will look to use to their advantage on Sunday.

The Gunners have the firepower in the attacking third to break down Bielsa’s backline but Mikel Arteta will have to make sure that player’s like David Luiz and Rob Holding manage to keep The Whites at bay.
