Burnley are yet to register a win this season, losing first to Brighton and then 0-2 to Liverpool this past weekend. And next up, they take on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

Burnley had a really poor record against the Magpies last season, losing both home and away but this time around NUFC have a long list of injuries meaning Sean Dyche’s side have a really good chance to pick up a win.

Historically though, the Turf Moor side do not have the best of records against Newcastle, winning just two out of their previous 10 encounters.

Dyche named a full-strength side against Liverpool and the manager has made it clear that he is going to shuffle his pack in midweek.

Next week Burnley take on Leeds United which is going to be another tough game for them so the Clarets are going to name a relatively second-fiddle side and hope they can knock out the Magpies.

Burnley’s team news vs Newcastle United:

Nick Pope will be rested as Wayne Hennessey comes in front of goal while Mee is also going to move to the bench with Collins likely to replace him.

The manager has admitted he is going to make several changes to the starting line-up with the Leeds United game just around the corner.

“It’s likely there will be some changes,” said the Burnley boss. “We never thought anything other than we’ve got a tough start – on paper that is.

“It doesn’t always play out like that. We know that and having a Premier League club in the cup is another tough game, particularly away from home.

“That’s one of those things, but we will be ready.”

The trio of Brownhill, Jack Cork and Dwight McNeil should retain their place in the starting line up but Gudmundsson is expected to be rested.

This would mean Josh Benson is going to make his first appearance of the season.

Ashley Barnes is going to keep his place from the Aston Villa game while Jay Rodriguez will partner him.
