Everton take on Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend and they go into this game at the back of a 3-1 loss to Manchester City.

The defeat to Guardiola’s side means the Toffees have now managed to pick up just one point from their previous five league games and their preceding two games have ended up in losses.

Carlo Ancelotti had to change his side’s formation in midweek vs City as he played a 4-4-1-1 system with Richarlison operating up top. But this weekend, the Italian is expected to revert back to his usual 4-2-3-1 formation.

Everton are undefeated in their last 7 away matches in the league and on the other hand, Liverpool have lost their last home matches in the competition. In recent months, the Anfield outfit have looked really shaky against strong opposition meaning the Toffees have a real chance of picking up their first win at Anfield since 1999.

Everton team news vs Liverpool:

Jordan Henderson has finally returned to goal and will play in between the sticks against Liverpool.

Yerry Mina came off in the first half against Manchester City with a knock and it’s highly unlikely that he will be fit to feature in the Merseyside Derby. The absence of Mina would mean that Godfrey will partner Michael Keane in central defence.

Godfrey moving into central defence would allow Digne to play at left-back while Holgate keeps his place in the starting line-up as the right-back.

Tom Davies and Doucoure played in defensive midfield against Manchester City in midweek and the pair will reprise their roles vs Liverpool.

Due to the changed formation, Sigurdsson had to play an unusual role in the attacking third vs City but he’s expected to operate in a more conventional attacking midfielder’s position on Saturday.

James Rodriguez came on as a sub in midweek but the South American will get to start against Liverpool on the right flank while Richarlison operates on the left-hand side. The return of James means Alex Iwobi will have to move back to the bench.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed the midweek fixture due to a thigh injury but the 23-year-old will be available for selection vs Liverpool and will get to lead the line.

Everton’s predicted line-up vs Liverpool:

Predicted Starting Line-up: Jordan Pickford; Godfrey, Holgate, Digne, Michael Keane; Doucoure, Davies, Sigurdsson; James Rodriguez, Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
