Chelsea appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager this summer and so far the Blues legend has managed to pick up only a single point during his first two games of the new Premier League season.

The season opener for Frank Lampard turned out to be a 4-0 thumping at Old Trafford and last weekend they could only manage to draw their home game vs Leicester City.

And in between these two games, the Blues also lost to Liverpool on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup.

While the pundits and fans are not yet ready to hit the panic button but one area which looks to be completely out of shape is the attacking third since the Blues have managed only a single goal during their first two games in the league.

But according to full-back Emerson, Frank Lampard is trying to work on the attacking aspect of Chelsea’s game.

‘It’s a new season with a new manager and new ideas,’ the defender told the club’s official website.

‘We have a young team in comparison to last season but in the last three matches we’ve played, even though we haven’t got the results we were looking for, I think we’ve shown a good level of football.

‘With Frank, we’re trying to play very direct football, always trying to attack and be as close to the goal as possible,

‘We’re looking to get our centre-forwards into the game so that means lots of crosses into the area and balls into them.

‘We’re creating chances and I’m sure the goals will follow. Against Leicester, in the first 15 minutes, we had several shots on goal and against Manchester United we had both Tammy Abraham and myself hit the frame of the goal. Frank is always looking for us to play in that way.

‘The message is all about intensity and direct, offensive football so we’re working on improving that because we know we have quality in our team.

‘We have so much potential to improve going forward with a manager who’s always working with us on the offensive aspect. I’m really enjoying the fact we’re playing this way in such an offensive style and I’m sure the results will come.’

Next up, Frank Lampard takes his side to Carrow Road in order to take on Norwich City.
