Man United hit a real low when they were knocked out of the Champions League at the start of December and at that point, everyone was certain the Red Devils were about to have another mediocre season.

Since then the whole atmosphere at Old Trafford has changed and after 16 games, Man United currently find themselves second on the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Liverpool FC.

There’s obviously a long way to go but the buzz amongst the pundits is that this Manchester United side have what it takes to challenge Jurgen Klopp’s men for the title this season.

And one of them is Roy Keane who feels Man United are capable of going head on with Liverpool if they can squeeze out important victories during the remainder of the season, like the one vs Aston Villa last week.

“If they keep winning football matches [they can win the title],” the pundit said as per MEN. “We were really critical of them at the start of the season – well I was, and rightly so, because their home form was so bad.

“It was shocking, some of their performances and results, but away from home they were fantastic.

“We just said, because it’s such a bizarre season, if they get their home form they were never that far adrift.

“And even their last few victories, a bit of luck against Villa the other night with the penalty, injury time winner against Wolves, brilliant against Leeds.

“United will obviously be getting confidence and belief that they can certainly challenge Liverpool.”

Man United have been superb away from home in the league this season and slowly their home form is also starting to peak.

Wins against Leeds United, Wolves and now Aston Villa have ensured that they have picked up five wins in their last seven matches(drawing the other two) and if they can build on this form then surely Ole’s men will be in a position to challenge for the Premier League title towards the end of the season.

United take on Burnley in their next league fixture following which they head to Anfield for a key game vs Liverpool.

If Manchester United can come out of Merseyside with all three points then surely they will harbour hopes of lifting the coveted silverware which has eluded them since 2013.
