Man United beat Copenhagen in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and next up they will take on the winner of the Wolves vs Sevilla match in the semis.

Everyone thought that Man United will blow away the Danish side on Monday but that was not to be as the Red Devils won this match with a scoreline of just 1-0 and even that goal came from the penalty spot during extra-time.

Despite creating a number of chances, Manchester United failed to score and with each passing minute, it was the Danish side who seemed to be growing in confidence.

And maybe this is why Nemanja Matic has predicted that his side need to be mentally fit if they wish to lift the Europa League by the end of next week.

“Yes, I think we are in good condition. Of course, the season is long but we knew it before, what we can expect,” Matic told reporters after the match, as reported by Manutd.com. “And the most important [thing] now is to be mentally ready.

“Physically I feel we are fine. We are in the same position like every other team so it’s most important that we are mentally ready.

“I think that mental point will decide the semi-final – and final, of course.”

For large parts of the game, Man United did look extremely tired and out of ideas but they managed to pull this one through only cause they were playing a team like Copenhagen.

In the semis and possibly the final, things will be totally different as they could face teams like Wolves, Inter Milan or Sevilla. And if Solskjaer’s men cannot be at the top of their game, then they will be definitely ending the 2019-20 season without a silverware.

The Man United boss seems to have found his strongest XI, for now, but in the semi-final, he’s likely to bring in Nemanja Matic into the starting line-up, replacing Fred.
