Spurs picked up a solid 2-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League during the weekend meaning their top-four hopes are still somewhat alive.

Realistically speaking Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for a year in the Europa League but even for that to happen, the North London side will need to win their remaining two games.

Next up, Spurs take on Aston Villa at home and the Lilywhites have performed really well at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under their interim coach Ryan Mason. Aston Villa, on the other hand, have won only one of their last seven league outings so they are not likely to be much of a challenge for the home side, especially with Jack Grealish still getting back to full match fitness.

Ryan Mason has an almost fit squad to choose from but the coach has not been making too many changes to his line-up so we expect him to name a pretty similar starting XI to the one which won against Wolves.

Spurs team news vs Aston Villa:

Serge Aurier missed the Wolves game after picking up a groin injury and he has now joined Ben Davies on the sidelines.

Tanganga was used at right-back ahead of Matt Doherty at the weekend and since the 22-year-old had such a brilliant outing, Mason could stick with him in midweek as well.

Hojbjerg and Giovanni Lo Celso have been the first-choice central midfield pairing for Mason but the manager does have options like Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko if he wants to change things a bit.

Dele Alli is back in favour for Spurs since the departure of Jose Mourinho and the England international put on a superb display vs Wolves during the weekend.

“He was excellent,” interim head coach Ryan Mason said after the 2-0 win. “I don’t like to single out players, but he was outstanding, we all felt that and I’m sure everyone watching felt the same.

“Dele gives us a different dimension when he’s like that, he ran, he pressed, he opened spaces and really helped the team. His attitude has allowed him to do that. He takes care of himself to allow his body to be able to do that, so very well done to him.”

Dele Alli is a guaranteed starter thanks to his revitalized form and he will be playing in the No 10 role. Son and Harry Kane will pair up as usual with the England international playing up front and Son taking up the left winger’s role.

Gareth Bale has been preferred to Lucas Moura on the right-hand side but Ryan Mason could opt for a chance this time around.

How Spurs could line up vs Aston Villa:

Predicted Starting Line-up: Hugo Lloris; Tanganga/Doherty, Reguilon, Eric Dier, Alderweireld; Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Dele Alli; Kane, Son, Gareth Bale/Moura.
