Spurs will take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this week and this match could eventually decide who the fourth-placed team in the league is going to be.

Tottenham are currently fifth on the league table while the Magpies are right above them. Newcastle United are three points ahead of Spurs and have played one game less but if the North London side manage to win this weekend then they will go level on points for the time being.

Tottenham Hotspur have been blowing hot and go because, after a string of positive results, the Lilywhites slumped to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth last week. This one’s going to be a much tougher game because Newcastle have done sensationally well this season and they have suffered only four league defeats so far.

Spurs haven’t won an away game in their last 6 matches so this one is going to be a strong challenge but if somehow they can pick up all three points then they will be right in the thick of things in terms of a Champions League spot next season.

Tottenham’s team news and injuries:

Christian Stellini will be without some important players because Bentancur is ruled out for several months with a ligament injury while Emerson Royal and Ben Davies are not expected to be fit in time for this Sunday.

Clement Lenglet picked up a muscle injury during the Bournemouth game but he’s reported back to training this week so he will be in line to get a start. Ben Davies has also returned to training but he won’t be ready for the Newcastle United game.

Stellini told the press: “Ben is very close to coming back. Tomorrow, we will see if he can train with us (full training) for the first time.

“It’s been a long time, so maybe this is the best news we have, but we are happy to have him back in training with us.”

Apart from Bentancur, Yves Bissouma is also going to be absent which means Stellini will once again have to put faith in Oliver Skipp.

The right wing-back position is also a cause of concern because Emerson and Ryan Sessegnon are both missing. Pedro Porro has been playing in that role and against Newcastle, the 23-year-old will hold onto their place.

Lucas Moura is suspended for this key game but this won’t be a cause of concern for the manager because he has Richarlison for backup plus Son has also found form at the right time.
