With the summer transfer window on us, Man United are preparing to bring in a number of new signings after a poor 2018-19 season.
The Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League which many believe could work against them in the transfer market.
That though has not stopped big names being linked with the club and with a substantial transfer budget, Man United can very easily buy their way to success this summer.
But in order to do that, the club first needs to clear up a lot of dead wood from the current squad and it seems like the process has already begun.
This week, Man United released an official statement in which they revealed the name of the players who would be moving out this summer and the names of Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia were on top.
But the good news for many fans was the fact that the club have also announced that Juan Mata has been offered a new deal which means that he might very well remain at the club during the 2018-19 season.
The statement read: “At this time of year, players’ contracts are set to expire at all levels within Manchester United as the squads start to take shape in advance of the upcoming 2019/20 season.
“While some will inevitably move on, the Under-23s welcome the older members of the Academy group, who step up to Premier League 2 football.
“An intake of first-year scholars then replaces them in the Under-18s. Of course, all players named on the actual retained list published by the Premier League remain under contract to the club.
“In terms of the first team, it has already been confirmed that Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia are leaving United after distinguished service in the red shirt. Juan Mata, meanwhile, has been offered a new contract.”
Apart from these players, Solskjaer is also expected to make significant changes to his defensive lineup which means the likes of Smalling and Jones could also move out during the summer.
Alexis Sanchez was a burden to the team during the past season and there is a big chance that the Chilean too will be on his way out of Man United sometime during the transfer window.
