Mikel Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December of last year and for the first couple of matches, it really felt like things were changing at the Emirates.

But that initial buzz seems to have fizzled out and right now, the Gunners are struggling to pick up wins in the league.

Arsenal have drawn their previous four Premier League games and right now they are 10th on the table with the dream of getting back into the Champions League fading away very quickly.

And according to Ian Wright, Mikel Arteta quickly needs to solve a few problems at Arsenal.

Wright said as per The Metro: ‘Mikel Arteta now realises the enormous task he has.

‘The way they started, it looked like something was going to happen but then after that, they slowly went further and further into their shell.

‘It’s something he has to address because in terms of the calibre of player we’ve got – and you have to give Burnley credit for where they are – but we should be performing a lot better.

‘We’ve got a lot of young players coming through that you hope can step up to the mark but we’ve got a lot of players there that aren’t playing to a level where Arsenal should be.

‘That’s the job that Arteta has got, to get them back to that level. Whether or not he can do that with the funds that he’s got, which isn’t much, is going to be a massive, massive ask.’

Initially, the new manager syndrome had helped Arsenal put in some fine shifts on the pitch but quickly all the energy faded away and right now Mikel Arteta and his boys are struggling to put their critics at bay.

While Arteta will surely be given ample amount of time to sort things out at the club but right now he needs some patchwork or else they could very quickly be moving towards the bottom of the table.
