Premier League side Chelsea have been chasing midfielder Kai Havertz for a couple of months now and it looks like Frank Lampard’s finally about to get his man.

According to journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Leverkusen will allow the midfielder to join Chelsea as soon as the club wrap up their ongoing Europa League campaign.

He wrote for Sky Sports: “He has been agitating behind the scenes for a move to Chelsea and Leverkusen are prepared to let him go as soon as they finish their Europa League campaign.

“Chelsea are prepared to spend big this summer but that doesn’t mean they will pay the £90m asking price. Leverkusen are talking tough in public with their sporting director claiming that Havertz will stay unless their valuation is met.

“That is a standard tactic in these kinds of situations. After all, you would hardly expect Rudi Voller to come out and say they are prepared to negotiate and give Chelsea a good deal.

“If Chelsea want Havertz as much as he wants them then the deal will be done after Leverkusen’s interest in the Europa League ends. That could happen on Monday if they lose to Inter Milan.

“Havertz has only two years left on his contract so this is the perfect time for Leverkusen to cash in especially because they won’t be in the Champions League next season unless they qualify by winning the Europa League.”

Chelsea have already signed players like Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and it seems like they now have managed to fight off a lot of competition in order to wrap up the signing of Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old has scored 12 and assisted six goals in the Bundesliga during the 2019-20 season for Bayer Leverkusen and there’s no denying that the youngster will be a fine addition to the Chelsea midfield next campaign.

But having said that manager Frank Lampard will have to offload some current midfielders this summer in order to make space for Kai Havertz.
