Here’s why Arsenal are likely to overcome the Crystal Palace test on Thursday: Too easy?

Arsenal beat Newcastle United in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup on Saturday and this week they welcome Crystal Palace at home in the Premier League.

The Gunners go into this game at the back of three wins in the league while Palace have managed just one in their last five outings. And this inconsistency in form from the visiting side should help the Gunners pick up all three points on Thursday, according to pundit Michael Owen.

He wrote for BetVictor: “Arsenal seem to be growing in confidence. They notched up their fourth win in a row at the weekend with an extra-time win in the FA Cup against Newcastle. The mood certainly seems better at the Emirates and I’d expect them to keep improving.

“Palace are still too inconsistent for me. They have only won once in their last seven matches and that came against a struggling Sheffield United.

“With the positive vibes now back at the Emirates, I think the home side will continue on their upward curve and take the points.”

Arsenal have found a new gear after going through a really lull phase over the past few months and after the three wins, the Gunners are now just six points away from that elusive fourth spot on the table.

Yes, there are a number of side between them and the fourth spot but Palace’s only win in their last seven matches have come against bottom-placed side Sheffield United and this poor form should see Arsenal over the line.

The North London side just have more quality on the pitch as compared to the Eagles and players like Smith-Rowe, Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka will ensure their all three points on Thursday.
