Arsenal take on Wolves in the Premier League on Thursday and according to Michael Owen, the Gunners are going to slump to another loss.

At one point in the season, the Gunners were looking like the favourites to finish in the top-four and return to the Champions League but all that good form and perseverance has fizzled out in the past few months.

The club have chosen to sell several first-team players in January but they have shockingly not signed anyone as replacements. And given the kind of form Wolves are showing, Michael Owen has gone with a victory for Bruno Lage’s side.

He wrote for BetVictor: “Wolves have gone from strength to strength under Bruno Lage and a win here, would really give them some hopes of even sneaking into the top four. They are so strong defensively and it means that they are always in with a chance.

“What a strange couple of weeks at Arsenal. A lot of departures but no incomings. I worry where the goals will come from. I know Aubameyang was having a difficult season, but he was still by far their best goal scorer. It’s a lot of pressure on the likes of Lacazette and Martinelli.

“I fancy Wolves to win here and keep yet another clean sheet. It won’t be high scoring, but they’ll edge it 1-0.”

Arsenal to slump to a loss at the hands of Wolves?

The Gunners have offloaded Aubameyang and they have also sent Folarin Balogun out on loan to Middlesbrough. This means Lacazette is the only experienced centre-forward in the side and even the Frenchman has a pretty average result.

This season, Lacazette has netted only three goals in 16 Premier League games.

The Gunners have more or less a stable defensive line but as Owen said, their forward line looks really shaky and after Auba’s exit, the goals are bound to dry up, especially after the tougher opponents.

Wolves are in a right vein of form right now, winning four out of their previous five league games and they actually go into this game as the favourites to pick up a win. To make matters worse, the North London side are winless in their previous five games across all competitions.

If Lage’s side can score one or two goals early on in the match then Arsenal are surely going to struggle to claw back the deficit and pick up something from this game.
