Laurent Koscielny Arsenal news

Arsenal drew their previous Premier League game 2-2 vs the Saints meaning they have now slipped to 7th on the table behind the likes of Wolves and Burnley FC.

The Gunners have not been able to pick up a win in their last five league matches which is a sign enough that Unai Emery has not done any favours this season and he might be sacked pretty soon.

While the current bunch of players are failing to click, Gunners legend Tony Adams believes the loss of Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey was indeed a big blow for the manager to handle.

‘The boos are deserved. It was a terrible, terrible performance, very disjointed, no defending in sight, [Emery] changed his system three times – he’s not doing himself any favours,’ Adams told BT Sport[as quoted by The Metro].

‘I don’t want any coach losing his job but the club’s not going forward, it’s not progressing. The recruitment has been really poor. We got rid of Koscielny – our best player – he had to go last year & Ramsey, we lost. The team is evidently weaker because of it.

‘I could put a team together that is more organised than that. There’s no one going out there to keep clean sheets, I can’t see a clean sheet in sight. When you’re giving the opposition team at the Emirates 20 chances on your goal, you’re never going to keep clean sheets’

Aaron Ramsey refused to sign a new contract at the club and last summer he went on to join Juventus.

This was surely a huge blow for Arsenal since the Welshman was the engine room for the side and the manager has not been able to find a like-for-like replacement.

Another blow came when Laurent Koscielny rebelled and forced his way out of the club during the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman was a key figure in central defence at the club and while Arsenal did bring in David Luiz as a replacement but the former Chelsea man has clearly failed to settle down at the Emirates.

And if these losses weren’t enough the Arsenal boss just cannot seem to settle down on his favourite formation. Against the Saints, the manager started the match with three defenders at the back but chose to revert back to a traditional four-man backline after half-time.
