Arsenal are going to face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend and the Gunners go into this game at the back of a 2-1 loss to Wolves.

The Gunners ended the game with nine men as David Luiz and Bernd Leno were sent off and according to Michael Owen, Arteta’s defenders could be in for an uphill task once again.

Owen feels that Arsenal and Dean Smith’s side play two very different brands of football but Villa’s quick-fire counter-attacks could be too much for the Arsenal defenders to handle.

The pundit wrote for BetVictor: “Arsenal had a night to forget at Molineux midweek and they face another tricky tie in the West Midlands against Aston Villa in Saturday’s early kick off.

“Both these sides have contrasting styles of play. Arsenal like to have most of the ball whilst Villa are quite happy to sit in and counter.

“Usually, you’d expect the home side to play on the front foot, however, I think Villa will happily give up territory and try to hit on the break.

“There aren’t many teams better at that than Villa just now, and with Messrs Grealish and Watkins in such excellent from, I think they’ll have enough to take all three points.”

David Luiz is suspended for this game while Kieran Tierney is not fit enough to be named in the matchday squad. And the absence of these two players could be a major point of difference on Saturday.

Arsenal played some really nice football during the first half vs Wolves but everything fell apart as soon as David Luiz was sent off.

Arteta will be hoping that his players can dig their teeth into Aston Villa this weekend as a failure to pick up a win could force the North London side to slip down to the 13th spot on the league table – if Southampton and Leeds United win their respective game.

On paper, Arsenal still have a chance of finishing in the top-four and if they wish to keep this hope alive then they need to win against Aston Villa.
