PSG want Erling Haaland
PSG

PSG seemingly have no use for Xavi Simons and as per the latest gossip, the French side are now willing to part ways with the midfielder.

Barcelona and Arsenal have already been linked with the Dutch midfielder and as per Sky Germany (h/t AS), Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also registered an interest in the 21-year-old.

Xavi Simons is currently on loan with RB Leipzig and he’s had a very good season at the Red Bull Arena. He has 19 goal contributions in 32 league games for Leipzig with an xG and xA of 8.26 and 9.03 respectively. He’s started each and every game that he’s featured in the league this season and he’s registered 81 shots out of which 33 have been on target.

Even though Leipzig wish to hold onto him for one more campaign, Simons will return to PSG in the summer but chances are, he will be sent straight out for the 2024/25 season.

Bayern Munich are very clearly impressed with Simons’ performances in Germany while Barcelona are said to be the favourites to land the midfielder but we believe a move to Arsenal is much more likely if all the proper conditions are met.

Here’s why Barcelona and Bayern are expected to miss out on Xavi Simons:

The youngster is a future superstar and it’s evident with so many major European clubs wanting to sign him. Simons personally prefers a move to Barcelona and if PSG are ready to send him out on loan once again then as per Mundo Deportivo, a clause in his contract will allow him to choose his next destination.

If that is the case then Barcelona won’t have to put any effort because Xavi Simons will obviously choose them over both Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

However, things are not that straightforward because PSG might look to offload him permanently as they have set a price tag of around €70 million. The Parisian outfit are yet to take a final call but if they do plan to get rid of Simons once and for all then Barcelona will really struggle to pay his transfer fee.

With the kind of financial mess they are in right now, there’s no way Xavi’s side can afford to pay €70 million for a single player and even Bayern Munich will hesitate to meet PSG’s demands because the Bavarians are also looking to sign him on a season-long loan.

PSG might very well look to cash in on Xavi Simons at the back of such a wonderful season rather than risk dropping his market value by sending him out on another loan spell and this decision will suit Arsenal very well because they will not even blink to pay €70 million for such a supremely talented youngster.

Simons is primarily an attacking midfielder but he can also play as a winger and by signing him, Mikel Arteta will be able to add competition for Martin Odegaard as well as Gabriel Martinelli.

What the future holds for Xavi Simons will entirely depend on what PSG wish to do with him. If the Ligue 1 side respects his decision to leave on loan then Barcelona are at the front of the queue despite interest from Bayern Munich but if they want to get rid of him permanently then Arsenal will be licking their lips.
