Over the past couple of weeks, there have been numerous reports of Arsenal looking to sell off left-back Kieran Tierney as the youngster has failed to impress this season.

The left-back arrived at the club last summer from Celtic FC but thanks to a number of injuries, he has managed to play in only five Premier League matches so far during the 19/20 campaign.

And as per the rumours, his former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to reunite with him at Leicester City this summer.

Mikel Arteta has players like Bukayo Saka and Sead Kolasinac who can play at left-back which is why the Gunners boss might be looking to send Tierney out once the current season wraps up.

Here’s why Kieran Tierney will not be sold by Arsenal:

Now finally amidst all the speculation, Arteta has finally opened up about Kieran Tierney and his tough first season at the club. And if the manager’s statement is anything to go by then we are pretty sure the 23-year-old will not be sold – not at least this summer.

Arteta said as quoted by the Express: “One that I was very excited about is Kieran Tierney and how he’s doing. We haven’t seen too much of him but he’s someone I think is going to be magnificent for us.

“I totally agree with you. I’m really looking forward to working with him and giving him the opportunity to play.

“His attitude, his commitment, his willingness, it’s incredible. I think he’s going to bring something special to us. It [the injury] has been a shame, but it’s part of his development. During your career, you go through these moments.

“I challenged him to say, ‘Kieran, how are you going to react to that? You can’t feel sorry for yourself, this happened.

“Okay, the level of pressure now is a little bit higher, you have to deal with it, you’re playing with a top club, top expectations, deal with it. You have everything to be successful here. You have the best possible attitude that I’ve known from a player, go and live your profession and enjoy it, and that’s it.”

Arsenal had struggled really hard to sign Kieran Tierney last year which is why Mikel Arteta is not willing to push him away after just a single season in England.

Also, if the ex-Celtic man was to leave, the North London club will have to try and bring in a replacement for him. And this decision during times of such a financial crisis is something the management will not want to indulge in.

So as things stand, Leicester City are not expected to get their hands on the full-back during the course of the upcoming transfer window.
