Leicester City play a Friday night fixture in the Premier League where they take on Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium.

This game comes just four days after their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace and two matches in such quick succession are sure to test the legs of some of the Leicester City players. Rodgers’ side still need to secure a top-four spot so he cannot afford to heavily rotate his line-up.

And this has led many to believe that Southampton are in with a chance on Friday night.

Some pundits think fatigue could be a major deciding factor in determining the outcome of this match but according to Michael Owen, the contrasting forms of both these sides should help Leicester City walk away with all three points.

The pundit wrote for BetVictor: “These two reoppose only a couple of weeks after Leicester narrowly beat the Saints in their FA Cup semi-final encounter. That match turned out to be a rather cagey affair, however, now in the league, I can see this one being more open.

“The Saints have been struggling for form in the league. With only three wins in their last 20 Premier League matches, there’s no doubt that the arrival of an in-form Foxes side poses a huge threat.

“Monday night’s win against Crystal Palace, a match where they came from behind, was huge for Brendan Rodgers’ side in their quest for Champions League qualification.

“A win here would put them within two points of second for the time being, so I’m sure the visitors will be well up for this.

“St. Mary’s has been a happy hunting ground for Leicester recently, and with that in mind, I think they’ll take another big three points here.”

Leicester City go into this weekend’s game having won three of their previous five league matches whereas the Saints have suffered four losses in that many games.

Southampton made a really bright start to the season but their shine has slowly faded away as the campaign has rolled along and right now they 15th on the Premier League table. The Saints are more or less safe from relegation but Leicester still have a lot in line and this one factor could be key in deciding the mental state of the players on the pitch.

Nevertheless, we still expect Leicester City to come out of this match with all three points, more so since Hasenhuttl will be without key players like Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand.
