According to Football Insider, SPFL side Rangers FC are harbouring feelings of signing Abdallah Sima on a permanent transfer but it’s easier said that done.

Sima has been on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion and his season has been really fruitful at the Ibrox with 11 goals and 2 assists in 24 Premiership games. He has an xG of 7.93 with 23 shots on targets but currently, he is recovering from a hamstring injury.

Philippe Clement would love to hold onto the right-winger but their finances will just not afford them that luxury. Journalist Barry Ferguson has been the first major person to drop the bad news.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show Ferguson said: “I would be lying if I said I know exactly what price tag is on his head. They’re bounding round about £6million, £7million and £8million and I think that would be too expensive.

“But look who knows, they might need to do something, they might need to be creative again to bring in money from elsewhere.”

As per TransferMarkt, Abdallah Sima is currently valued at £6 million so £6-8 million will be a very realistic demand from Brighton but Rangers FC just do not have the capacity to pay that kind of money for a single player, no matter how good he is.

Sima has missed a large chunk of this season due to injuries but a couple of months ago, the Rangers FC manager announced that they are planning to sign the winger permanently. However, if Brighton do not lower their asking price, the Gers will have to scrap that plan.

A loan deal for a second season might have been a more realistic option but Sima’s contract with Brighton expires in 2025 so the Seagulls will look to offload him this summer itself.

The Brighton man is very much out of reach for Rangers FC but they have Scott Wright and their manager has also confirmed that they are in talks with Lens to keep Oscar Cortes for one more season so if the club cannot bring in another quality right-winger, Philippe Clement will have to rely on these two players next season.
