Rangers FC have been keeping tabs on Stoke City midfielder Souleymane Sidibe but if a report by FootMercato is to be believed then the Gers are in for a fight which they won’t be able to win.
The report claims that Chelsea, Brighton, AS Monaco and even Juventus, are all interested in signing the 17-year-old midfielder thanks to his brilliant performances this season.
This season, Sidibe has played in only 4 Championship games but he’s been on fire in the Premier League 2 scoring one and four assists in 14 matches. He is primarily a central midfielder but the youngster can also play as a CDM and on occasions, he can also play in the No 10 role.
Souleymane Sidibe has featured in 26 games across all competitions and looking at his performances, the 17-year-old is destined to be a top-quality player. He is the son of Mamady Sidibe, who played for the Potters from 2005 to 2013.
Sol Sidibe was hailed for his maturity by the Stoke City manager just a couple of months ago and because his professional contract with the club expires in 2026 the club are in no hurry to offload the midfielder.
Rangers have no chance of landing Sidibe from Stoke City:
Stoke City will definitely resist Sidibe’s sale in the summer but they are absolutely helpless with so many big clubs interested in him.
He’s a driving force in the middle of the pitch who is great with the ball at his feet and will be a great addition to Philippe Clement’s side next season. However, it’s highly unlikely that Rangers will be able to land the youngster, ahead of teams like Chelsea, Juventus or Brighton.
At Ibrox, Sidibe will be able to get a lot of game time but at teams like Chelsea or Brighton, the youngster will have the chance to showcase his talent in the Premier League in one or two years. Brighton in particular has been a hotbed for young talents in recent seasons and at the Amex Stadium he will get one of the best infrastructures for developing prodigies into superstars.
It’s still unclear what Sidibe wants to do with his career but if he wishes to leave the Potters in the coming months then the 17-year-old is more likely to remain in England than head across Europe to a team like Monaco or Juventus.
Paying a handsome transfer fee for the Stoke City midfielder won’t be an issue for Rangers but the other interested clubs can easily outbid the Scottish clubs. The only way the Gers will be able to convince the midfielder is by tempting him with regular and uninterrupted top-level football immediately from the next season because at any other major club, he will go straight into the academy setup.
