According to a report from Sport, Premier League side Manchester City have joined Juventus and PSG in the hunt for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Lunin was thrust into the limelight this season thanks to Courtois’ lengthy injury problems but the 25-year-old has come out with flying colours. Despite having Kepa in his squad, Ancelotti had shown faith in Lunin to be his No 1 and the keeper was one of the most consistent players for Madrid.

He kept 17 clean sheets in 21 La Liga games while conceding just 10 goals but without a doubt, his heroic moment of the season was the successful penalty shootout against Man City in the Champions League.

Juventus have been linked with Andriy Lunin for some time but in recent days, PSG and also Manchester City have registered an interest in the Ukrainian international. Manchester United’s name had also been mentioned last month but those rumours seem to have died down for the time being.

Does Andriy Lunin have a future at Real Madrid?

Lunin has been with Madrid since 2020 and the 23/24 season was a standout campaign for the 25-year-old with 31 appearances across all competitions. However, it’s very hard to see him hold onto the No. 1 spot next season.

Andriy Lunin missed the Champions League final due to a flu and that had allowed Thibaut Courtois to come back into the side and next season, Courtois will promptly reclaim his position.

If Lunin remains in Madrid he will be pushed back to the bench so it will make much more sense if the player chooses to leave. The keeper has upped his stocks massively and at clubs like Juventus and PSG, he will be able to challenge directly for a regular playing spot. Man City manager is also keeping tabs on Andriy Lunin but we don’t think he will be able to dethrone Ederson any time soon.

Now that the 25-year-old has gotten a taste of first-team football, there’s no way he will go back to playing second fiddle next season.

The keeper’s contract with Madrid expires next year so that is another reason why Carlo Ancelotti will look to cash in on him. His market value is €25 million but with so many big names interested, Real Madrid can easily squeeze out €35-40 million from the Ukrainian’s sale.
