The Saints are currently out in the market looking for a full-back and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are constantly being linked with Manchester United’s Brandon Williams.
Reports claims that Southampton want to sign the youngster on a short-term loan deal and they were expected to make a formal move in the coming days.
But now it seems like the Saints are looking at other options and might back out of the deal to sign Brandon Williams.
According to the Telegraph, Man United are proving a tough nut to crack as they are not too keen to let the youngster leave during this month. And Hasenhuttl does not want to wait any longer.
EPL rivals Everton FC would be really buoyant with this news since Carlo Ancelotti has also been tracking Brandon Williams for some time and the Toffees were expected to rival the Saints for the signature of the player.
But we don’t think either of the two sides will be able to get their hands on the 20-year-old since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Williams to act as the back-up to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Brandon Williams is naturally a left-back but with Man United selling Fosu-Mensah to Bayer Leverkusen, Ole expects the academy graduate to act as the back-up at right-back.
Before the sale of Fosu-Mensah, Man United were more than willing to send Brandon Williams out on loan for the remainder of the season and the Saints looked to be the favourites to get their hands on him.
Now all of a sudden, Man United have changed their stance which could only mean their Norwegian manager is expected Brandon Williams to get considerable game time at Old Trafford.
