Borussia Dortmund managed to secure a hard-fought 3-2 win over Stuttgart during the weekend and now they have the uphill task of keeping Manchester City at bay in the Champions League.

BVB managed to score an away goal in the first leg of their quarter-final clash last week so the German side very much remain in the tie. But Dortmund have been knocked out on six of the seven occasions when they have suffered defeat in the first leg in the UCL. So the odds are highly stacked against them going into Wednesday’s game.

While Dortmund will go into this game at the back of a win, City, on the other hand, suffered a 1-2 loss at the hands of Leeds United, despite Bielsa’s side playing with 10 men.

The Citizens remain very much the favourites to pick up a win in this second leg and progress to the semis but Edin Terzic has some world-class talents at his disposal who can single-handedly swing the tie in their favour.

Borussia Dortmund team news vs Man City:

Mats Hummels was taken off early during the weekend win against Stuttgart but the defender should be fully fit to start alongside Manuel Akanji at the back.

21-year-old Mateu Morey played at right-back against Stuttgart and also in the first leg but he is likely to be replaced by Thomas Meunier this week.

Emre Can will also come back into the side to partner Mahmoud Dahoud and Bellingham in midfield meaning Delaney will be starting on the bench.

Ansgar Knauff was a surprise starter in the first leg but he seems to have solidified his position after scoring that crucial winner at the weekend. The 19-year-old winger seems to have done enough to start on the right-hand side in the second leg as well.

Marco Reus was another player who was taken off in the Stuttgart game due to an injury scare but he will be fully fit to play against Manchester City.

Erling Haaland leading the line is a no-brainer but the youngster is now on a six-match goalless streak for both club and country which is a bit worrying for the Borussia Dortmund manager.

Players like Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer and Youssoufa Moukoko are all sidelined but Jadon Sancho has finally returned to individual training this week after a month-long injury lay-off. But this game against Manchester City is going to come too early for him to make a comeback.

Dortmund’s possible line-up vs Man City:

Predicted Line-up: Hitz; Hummels, Akanji, Meunier, Guerreiro; Emre Can, Bellingham, Dahoud; Reus, Knauff, Haaland.
