Real Madrid are scheduled to face AC Milan in the Champions League this week and they will go into this high-profile game at the back of an embarrassing defeat to FC Barcelona in the LaLiga.
Ancelotti’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of their biggest rivals and that too on their own home turf. Even though they have played one game less, the defeat now leaves Madrid nine points behind Hansi Flick’s side.
However, the LaLiga giants will have to keep that flop behind because, after three European games, the Los Blancos are 12th on the table. Madrid’s game against Valencia was postponed so Ancelotti’s side got a full week’s rest while Milan go the Spain at the back of a 1-0 win over Monza. Real Madrid are undefeated in their last 6 home matches against AC Milan across all competitions and they will have to keep this run going because there is no way the home fans will accept two major defeats on the trot.
Real Madrid’s team news and injuries:
Dani Carvajal and David Alaba are both recovering from cruciate ligament injuries while Thibaut Courtois is out with an adductor injury which he suffered during the game vs Borussia Dortmund.
Rodrygo missed El Clasico due to a thigh problem and he is also not expected to be fit for midweek’s Champions League clash.
Apart from Carvajal, all three injured players have started individual training sessions on the pitch but they are still some time away from playing.
Carlo Ancelotti named his strongest team but still Barcelona tore them apart so at least on paper, the Real Madrid manager is not expected to make any major changes to his starting lineup this week.
Luka Modric could be the one to come into the first XI replacing Tchouameni but apart from that, we don’t think Ancelotti will make any more changes.
Carlo would love to strengthen the right-back position but with Carvajal out injured, the manager has only Lucas Vazquez to fall back to.
Real Madrid predicted lineup vs AC Milan:
Predicted Starting Lineup(4-4-2): Andriy Lunin; Mendy, Rudiger, Militao, Vazquez; Valverde, Bellingham, Camavinga, Tchouameni/Modric; Mbappe, Vinicius Jr.
