Liverpool take on Manchester City this Sunday and defenders Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez will have an immense responsibility of keeping Guardiola’s side from scoring.

Van Dijk has changed the face of Liverpool’s defence ever since he joined the club at the start of this year and the Dutchman along with Gomez have formed a strong partnership at the heart of defence.

While the Reds have moved past their opponents with relative ease but in Man City, they face their biggest challenge so far this season.

And one of the big responsibilities for Van Dijk would be too keep Sergio Aguero at bay.

While most defenders would like to do their homework before taking on such an attacking side but Virgil Van Dijk has a rather different approach.

The centre-back has made it clear he has not studied Sergio Aguero and it is just not his style.

Virgil Van Dijk said: “I don’t study them, that’s not the way I get to know my strikers.

“Obviously you play against them and get to know how they move. Obviously, they have so much quality.

“I think in all of the Premier League, all the strikers are from such a high quality anyway.

“We don’t try to defend only one player, we try to defend with the whole team, their whole formation, their team and that’s the way we try and win the ball back and try and not concede.”

While the defence might be sorted but Jurgen Klopp is surely having some concerns with his midfield area after Naby Keita injured his back during the Napoli game.

The manager since then has made it clear that the injury was just a back spasm but there’s no guarantee if Keita will feature in the starting line up vs Manchester City on Sunday.
