Wolves Premier League

Wolves have been in a dismal run of form in the EPL but they will have a chance to redeem themselves when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The Blues have just sacked Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel is set to take charge of the club. And in this changing of responsibilities, Wolves will try and pick their seventh win of the season.

Wolves have failed to win their last 6 matches in the Premier League and out of their last five matches, Santo’s side have tasted defeat in three of them.

The Wolverhampton manager has a few injuries to deal but his side go into this match at the back of a 1-0 win over Chorley in the 4th Round of the FA Cup so they do have some momentum to take to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

EPL: Wolves team news vs Chelsea

Nuno Espiritio Santo will have very little chance to rotate his starting XI and most of the players from the 3-2 West Brom loss should start once again.

Willy Boly and Coady will pair up in central defence after the former’s return from injury with Semedo playing at right-back. Romain Saiss started at left-back vs the Baggies and he’s likely to be replaced by Nouri on Wednesday.

The midfield trio more or less selects themselves for the Chelsea game with Neves playing in defensive midfield and Dendoncker and Moutinho playing a bit further up front.

Daniel Podence is recovering well from his injury but he will not be fit for this EPL game against the Blues.

Talking about Podence’s recovery, Santo had said last week: “Daniel is starting the outside work and is getting back his level of fitness, how he reacts to the training sessions, so progressively he’ll be joining us.”

Pedro Neto and Adama Traore will operate on the wings and new arrival Willian Jose is likely to make his debut in midweek as he starts up front. If Jose is named in the starting XI then Fabio Silva will move to the bench and might come on as a second half sub.

Raul Jimenez remains a long-term absentee as the 29-year-old continues his recovery from the head injury.
