Hugo Lloris Tottenham Spurs news

Tottenham Hotspur keeper Hugo Lloris could be on his way out of the club in the summer and Manchester United happens to be a likely destination, according to Le Equipe.

Metro cites the publication saying: “Tottenham are interested in signing Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris – with Manchester United a possible next destination for the Spurs skipper.

“Maignan’s arrival at Tottenham could trigger Lloris exit after nine seasons at the club. L’Equipe claim the 34-year-old could be ready to take on one more ‘big challenge’, naming United as his possible next move with David de Gea no longer in United’s long-term thinking, according to the publication.”

Will Man United make a move for Hugo Lloris?

David De Gea has been the No 1 at Man United for most of this season but slowly and steadily, Dean Henderson has been taking over that role. And we are more than confident that the academy graduate will be the official first-choice keeper at the club once the 2021-22 season kicks off.

This is the biggest reason why we don’t think Hugo Lloris will want to join Manchester United unless he wishes to warm the benches at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has shown tremendous faith in Dean Henderson and there have been several rumours that Man United will allow David De Gea to leave the club in the summer, either on loan or on a permanent deal. If this move happens then Ole will want to bring in a new keeper but we are not sure that it will be Hugo Lloris from Spurs.

The 34-year-old, if he leaves the North London side, will want to join a club where he can play regularly and Man United does not happen to be that place.

Solskjaer will be much more comfortable in holding onto David De Gea instead of making a move for a 34-year-old.

Man United have a lot to sort out in the goalkeeping department before the start of the next season which is why we doubt they will make any move for Hugo Lloris unless they can settle the futures of Dean Henderson and David De Gea.
