Rangers stole the show in January by signing Aaron Ramsey on a loan deal from Juventus but the playmaker has done very little to impress.
The ex-Arsenal had come to Scotland in the hopes of reviving his career but so far he’s played only 31 minutes in the SPFL. Aaron Ramsey has been plagued with injuries since moving to the Premiership and according to Kris Commons, Rangers might have made a mistake by bringing the 31-year-old on board.
He wrote in the Daily Mail via Rangers Review: “We’re now well into March and Rangers fans are fully entitled to ask what the thinking behind the signing of Aaron Ramsey was all about.
“The stats so far show that he’s played just 94 minutes over four games of football. And 61 of those came against Annan Athletic.
“He was an unused substitute against Aberdeen on Saturday. If a player of that talent is able to take his place on the bench, why wasn’t he involved?

“I always felt this was a marquee signing to give Rangers fans a pick-me-up. No matter his talent, I never thought Ramsey was a player who was going to take the Ibrox side to the next level. Rangers’ midfield already has the likes of Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack.
“Was it an area of the team that badly needed upgrading? No one should be surprised by the way this is playing out.
“He’s an exceptional talent who has had a top career but has been plagued with injuries. He struggled for fitness at Arsenal and Juventus and was always going to be miles off it by the time he moved to Glasgow.
“I’ve read that he is spending thousands of pounds of his own money on fitness coaches to try to get himself up to speed. You can’t fault that.
“If he starts against Celtic at the start of next month, that might be money well spent. But if he remains a bit-part player in that clash, his loan spell will just go down as pretty much a waste of time.”
Is Aaron Ramsey a false signing by Rangers?
There’s no denying that Aaron Ramsey has been a major flop with Juventus and injuries have stopped him from getting game time with Rangers as well. But the fact that the midfielder has massive experience in Europe will be of major help for the Gers in the coming months.

Rangers are still playing in Europe and the experience of someone like Ramsey could be very useful in that competition, especially towards the decisive stages.
Obviously, he could make a major difference in the Old Firm Derby but if he can help the Ibrox outfit get into the semi-final or maybe the final of the Europa League then Aaron Ramsey would be deemed as a priceless signing.
He has just returned to full fitness and is in line to start against Red Star Belgrade this week. We don’t think he will get the full 90 minutes but against a Serbian side, we sure fancy him to dominate and dictate the play in that No 10 role.
This match is tailor-made for someone like Ramsey’s quality and help him get some confidence under his belt.
