Liverpool are on the verge of signing winger Adama Traore from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, as being claimed by El Gol Digital.

The Spanish outlet claims that Nuno Espirito Santo wants to bring in Lucas Ocampos from Sevilla this summer and the Argentine’s move is going to be funded by the money that Wolves are going to get from the sale of Traore.

The report claims: “Wolves have been very motivated to get him, fighting head to head with other giants for his signing in the summer.

“… they plan to fight for its achievement based on the potential sale they have tied up by Adama Traoré. The end is almost sealed by Liverpool and they plan to re-invest that large sum of money in a footballer who they believe.

“He has what they are looking for: potential, speed, dribbling and goal. Besides, he is still young and ready to take on a bigger challenge.”

Should Liverpool be signing Adama Traore?

Adama Traore was in red-hot form for Wolves last season but the club chose not to cash in on him during the previous summer transfer window. And clearly, this gamble has not paid off.

During the ongoing campaign, Traore has featured in 28 Premier League games so far and shockingly he has managed only a single assist – a stark contract to his four goals and nine assists last season.

His form has taken a major nose dive this season which is the biggest reason why Liverpool should think twice before spending money on him.

The talent is obviously there and if Liverpool can get him for cheap then will be a great bit of business from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But we doubt that Wolves will allow Adama Traore to leave in a cut-price deal, more so since he still has two years left on his current deal. According to TransferMarkt, the winger is currently valued at £31.5 million and Wolves will undoubtedly want way more than that.

Liverpool are not going to make any major money by selling players this summer so most of the amount for Adama Traore will have to come out of the owners’ pockets. And we are not sure that spending a hefty sum on a player who has been below average all throughout the season makes any major sense.
