Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles put in a fine shift against Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday and probably this is why the Gunners will now refuse to sell him, that’s according to the Mirror.

The tabloid claims: “Arsenal could be ready to do a dramatic U-turn and keep Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

“Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to keep the 23-year-old whose form has been rewarded with an England call-up.

“Wolves have been chasing Maitland-Niles, have made a £15m bid and want to return with a new offer which has left Arsenal fans in uproar at the prospect of him leaving.”

Will Ainsley Maitland-Niles remain at Arsenal?

It looks like the youngster’s versatility has prompted Mikel Arteta to change his mind but this is really bad news for Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Santo has allowed Matt Doherty to join Spurs recently and he was planning to replace him with Ainsley Maitland-Niles for the 2020/21 season.

We will still have to to wait and see how Wolves react to this but some experts think that if they can increase their bid for the 23-year-old then Mikel Arteta might have a change of heart once again.

But when Maitland-Niles was asked about his potential exit, the player made it clear that he’s still a member of the Gunners squad.

He said after the Community Shield win: “I am an Arsenal player until I am told otherwise. My heart is in the club and whilst I am here I am going to give 100 percent all the time. So that is that.”
