Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has fallen down the pecking order this season and it looks like Ole has finally decided to cash in on him.

The United boss refused to sell him last summer hoping that he will come good but that has certainly not been the case and now as per the German media, BVB are planning to bring him in as a replacement to Erling Haaland.

Football365 cites German reports: “Man Utd would be willing to let Anthony Martial leave next summer for around £47m and Dortmund see him as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland, according to reports.

“The striker is expected to leave the Bundesliga side next summer, as he will have a release clause of around £77m. German outlet Sport 1 are reporting that Martial is one of the attackers they are considering signing to replace Haaland.

“The report adds that Martial is “dissatisfied” at Man Utd and they “would let” the Frenchman depart next summer for between £42m and £47m.”

Is Anthony Martial likely to join Borussia Dortmund?

Manchester United are amongst the numerous clubs who have an interest in signing Erling Haaland and if BVB really want to sign Anthony Martial then the English side could have a major advantage in this arrangement.

After the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Martial is of no use to Solskjaer and if the manager can use him in a cash plus player deal to sign someone like Haaland then he will not think twice.

But it remains to be seen if the Norwegian forward is ready to join Man United, especially since clubs like Real Madrid and Man City are also being linked with him.

Also, £47 million is too steep a price for someone like Anthony Martial and if he keeps warming the benches for the whole of the 2021/22 season then there’s no way Dortmund will be ready to pay such a high transfer fee for the Frenchman.

All in all, Anthony Martial joining Borussia Dortmund remains a very likely possibility but for the deal to happen a lot of things will have to fall into place in the next couple of months.
