Antoine Griezmann to Chelsea?

English Premier League side Chelsea might be the club who get their hands on Antoine Griezmann, if Barcelona sell him this summer, as per a report in Sport.

The report suggests: “Antoine Griezmann is on the starting ramp of FC Barcelona. His salary and his market price make the Frenchman a bulwark for the Barça club in its attempt to lower the salary mass and get Messi to renew.

“Ronald Koeman has already warned that drastic decisions should be made in the coming days because Barça’s priority is to tie up Messi’s continuity.

“The main objective, right now, is to facilitate the departure of Antoine Griezmann and, for this, the French footballer is already on the market.

“The team that has been the most active in recent days is Chelsea, who need a striker and are very happy about this operation. Manchester City and United are on the lookout, but no moves have been made yet.”

Can Chelsea get their hands on Antoine Griezmann?

It’s very well known that Barcelona will need to reduce their wage bill drastically so they can register their new players and since Griezmann is one of the clubs’ top earners, he could very well be shown the door.

Manchester City have had a strong interest in the French international but since Pep Guardiola is planning to sign players like Jack Grealish and Harry Kane, we doubt if he will have money left to make a move for the Barcelona man.

Chelsea though are gearing up for another big transfer window so making a big money move for Antoine Griezmann should not be an obstacle for the London outfit.

The development of this story will totally depend on how Barcelona are planning their finances for the next season. If the club can sort out their wage bills by selling a couple of unwanted players then Antoine Griezmann is going nowhere.

But since the Frenchman is getting paid nearly £600,000-a-week, offloading him could solve a lot of problems for the Catalans.

As per TransferMarkt, Barcelona paid £108 million to sign Griezmann in 2019 and currently the 30-year-old is valued at £54 million.
