Arsenal are interested in signing winger Mykhaylo Mudryk but their latest offer for the 21-year-old has been rejected, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The winger has been on fire for Shakhtar Donetsk, scoring seven and assisting seven in 12 league goals and not only Arsenal but Chelsea are also keen to bring him on board.

The Gunners’ latest offer was €40m plus €20m but Shakhtar want a package closer to €80m which is why they have turned down this latest approach. However, Arsenal are unfazed as they are preparing a new and improved bid for the Ukrainian international.

Chelsea have been keeping a keen eye on this situation for some time now but they will only move up the pecking order if the talks with Arsenal collapse.

The North London sides are very much the favourites to land Mykhaylo Mudryk and as per the latest reports, finances are the only thing holding back this transfer.

One would think that Chelsea will make a bolder move to sign Mudryk because their attack is in complete disarray but quite surprisingly, the Blues are not trying hard.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are moving fiercely because Gabriel Jesus is ruled out with an injury and if they want to hold onto the top spot in the Premier League table then they have to bring in reinforcements.

Mudryk’s current valuation is just €42 million but because he’s on such a goal-scoring spree, Shakhtar have every right to quote €80 million for the youngster.

Jesus is likely to be on the sidelines until the end of February so someone like Mudryk is the need of the hour. At first, everyone thought that Chelsea will give a stern fight in this transfer race but as things stand, Arsenal are the firm favourites with the Blues languishing behind their London rivals.
