As per The Athletic, Rangers FC have agreed to sign defender Ben Davies from Premier League side Liverpool and he is going to replace Calvin Bassey in central defence.
Bassey had a wonderful campaign with the Gers and now he is on his way to Ajax in a transfer deal worth €22 million. Rangers, however, have wasted no time in finding a replacement.
Ben Davies had joined Liverpool in January of 2021 when the Reds were going through a major defensive crisis but to date, he’s not even played a single competitive game for the Anfield outfit.
Davies will now be joining the SPFL side in a deal worth £3m guaranteed plus £1m in add-ons and the move is in the final stages of completion.

Will Ben Davies be able to fill the void left by Calvin Bassey?
Calvin Bassey was the standout player for Rangers FC last season and he was one of the primary reasons why the Gers were able to reach the Europa League final.
Last season, Ben Davies was out on loan with Sheffield United and even there he kept coming in and out of the starting XI.
He had managed to start in only 21 Championship games for the club and in the rest of the matches, he was warming the benches. Also, he is a player who’s very much prone to injuries and one of the big reasons why he didn’t get a chance to prove himself under Jurgen Klopp was because he had immediately gotten injured after joining Liverpool.
There’s no way he will be able to have the same sort of impact as Calvin Bassey from the very first week but if his time at Preston North End is anything to go by then he will eventually be a success at Ibrox.
