Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been on the lookout for new attacking reinforcements for the summer window and as per a report in Fichajes, the Premier League side has shown an interest in Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz

Brahim Diaz had a pretty eventful season with Madrid as he won the La Liga title and also became just the third Morroccon to win the Champions League. However, Kylian Mbappe’s arrival from PSG has put doubts over his future at the Bernabeu.

Diaz had joined Real Madrid from Manchester City back in 2019 but he spent three years on loan to AC Milan where he played 124 games across all competitions. He returned to Spain in 2023 and last season he had 18 La Liga starts for the Los Blancos. His current contract expires in 2027 and his market value right now is just €40 million.

Do Arsenal need a player like Brahim Diaz?

Brahim Diaz is primarily an attacking midfielder but he can also play as a centre-forward, as a winger and also as a supporting striker. This season, he featured in 44 games for Madrid out of which 14 appearances were as a second striker and 15 were as wingers.

By signing the 24-year-old, Arteta will not only be able to add a backup to Martin Odegaard but he will also get a new striker. And with Gabriel Jesus and Nketiah set to leave, Diaz’s versatility is going to come very handy next season.

Diaz had 21 goal contributions this season with an xG of 5.75 and a passing accuracy of 87%. He created as many as 30 chances in the league and his 8 league goals came from just 17 shots on target.

Odegaard shouldered all the playmaking responsibility this season but the Arsenal will have to bring in someone who is going to play in tandem with him and Brahim Diaz can easily solve that problem.

Arsenal are also looking at strikers like Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko and while one of them is going to be the primary striker, the Real Madrid man can very easily play as the backup.

Also, he is a product of Man City’s academy which means he should take very little time to settle down in the Premier League.

Will Real Madrid agree to sell Diaz?

Madrid are in no hurry to offload the 24-year-old but Kylian Mbappe’s arrival has made things that much harder for the Moroccan international.

Next season, his game time is going to diminish very badly and it won’t be a surprise if the midfielder asks Ancelotti to let him go.

With three years remaining on his deal, Real Madrid can very easily quote around €50-55 million and their need is such that Arsenal will be more than willing to meet this demand.

Mbappe is going to be the main centre-forward next campaign while players like Jude Bellingham and Valverde can play in the advanced midfield roles which means if Arsenal can offer favourable terms to both Madrid and the player it should not be a problem for them to land Brahim Diaz.
