Man United are about to make their first major summer signing and it’s not Frenkie de Jong: Necessary signing?

Christian Eriksen playing for Denmark

Playmaker Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United as a free agent, claims David Ornstein.

Eriksen left Brentford at the end of the season and as per The Athletic journalist, the ex-Spurs man should be joining Man United, subject to agreeing on contract details and passing a medical.

He wrote: “Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United, The Athletic understands.

“Eriksen has communicated to United that he wants to play for the Old Trafford club and is prepared to accept their proposal of a three-year deal.

“The process of drafting contracts has now started and if that is finalised, the 30-year-old playmaker would need to come through medical tests.”

Will Christian Eriksen be a good signing for Man United?

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have both left the club so signing a new central midfielder is the need of the hour for Erik ten Hag.

United are trying to bring in Frenkie de Jong but Christian Eriksen is a much more dynamic player as compared to the Barcelona man.

Eriksen is primarily a central midfielder but he can also play as a CDM plus he is a brilliant passer of the ball. Last season, all the creative onus was on Bruno’s shoulders but if Christian Eriksen comes in then the Portuguese will be able to play a lot more freely.

Eriksen is not expected to play each and every week so if United can bring Frenkie de Jong on board then the midfield crisis will be solved to a large extent.

Manchester United is offering him a three-year deal and since no other major clubs are interested in signing the Danish international, we expect this transfer to be completed by the end of this week.
