Chelsea take on Wolves in the English Premier League in midweek and according to Frank Lampard, Christian Pulisic could return from injury at the Molineux.

Pulisic picked up a slight hamstring injury during Chelsea’s game vs Leeds United and up until Monday, everyone was certain the American will not be fit in time.

But speaking to the press at the start of the week, Lampard has revealed that Christian Pulisic has returned to full training and could be a part of the match-day squad against Wolves.

‘He trained on the day we played against Everton and felt better,’ Lampard said during his pre-match press conference.

‘He’s in the squad tomorrow and it’s yet to be decided whether he starts or not. It’s obviously positive news from the weekend.

‘It’s important for us to stay in the race. When people were touting us as title contenders, after the Leeds game particularly, I felt it’s a long race to win a Premier League. I did it as a player and I understand there are lots of elements of it.

‘One of those is losing a game and trying to bounce back from it quickly which is what we need to do, and sustain performances and results over a period of time.’

This is a massive boost for the Chelsea boss since Hakim Ziyech is also out injured which is why Kai Havertz has had to fill into that left winger’s role.

Havertz had an awful display during the weekend against Everton in that role and the return of Christian Pulisic would mean the German could finally move back into midfield.

If Pulisic is fit enough to start then he will be deployed on the right-hand side of the pitch as Timo Werner moves to the opposite flank.

The former Dortmund man has played in only five matches this season in the Premier League and with Ziyech out injured, this is the perfect opportunity for him to secure a regular place in the starting XI.
